cam6-t3-task2: Topic: Some people believe that visitors to other countries should follow local customs and behavior. Others disagree and think that the host country should welcome cultural differences. Discuss both these views and give your own opinion. (250 words) I do not agree with the statement that: the host country should welcome cultural difference. The reasons are: Firstly, Visitors come to a host country as guests; they should follow the local customs, it is a kind of basic courtesy that we have kept for many years. Many people know the say of “Been Roma as the Roman does”. It is not the right way to the let the host country which usually represents larger population than the outsiders to follow the visitors’ custom. Secondly, Generally speaking, different visitors are visiting a country from time to time, as they are from unique backgrounds, they also bring all new cultures, when all they come at the same time, it is very difficult for the host country to follow particular one culture, if the host country want to adapt the visitors’ culture. The most possible way is: the host country adapt some culture some each visitors’. Neither the host country citizens nor the visitors would prefer it. Because it is a NEW culture created not suiting any one’s taste. Thirdly, It is important for a country to keep its own culture as a presence of its nation, such culture can be lost totally if the country is adapting new cultures, different cultures put significant contributions in the human research, as one culture disappears, it may be a permanent lost of such studies of the nation and history, we can imagine that one of those nations have the oldest culture - China, if China adapted European culture thousands of years ago, we would lose wonderful Chinese food, we would lose brilliant Great Walls, we would have an World War I & II with much larger large scale, etc. It is really hard to imagine the consequence. In conclusion, in order to maintain traditional ethics, courtesy, keep original culture presence, and save any culture from being converted or even lost. Visitors should follow local customs of the host country. (40 min used)
